As the UK’s only dedicated partner to Stratasys, we are here to serve the whole of the UK and Ireland direct from our Advanced Innovation Centre in Derby. We offer business and technical consultancy advice, service and maintenance, training, installation, print and design services, as well as the latest industrial 3D printers from Stratasys.

1989

The invention of FDM

Scott Crump and his wife Lisa founded Stratasys in Minnesota, USA, after the invention of the technology known as fused deposition modelling (FDM).

1992

First product launched

Stratasys launches its first product, 3D Modeler, going on to develop larger rapid prototyping machines suited to the marketplace, selling to major corporate customers such as General Motors, 3M, and Pratt & Whitney.

1994

Stratasys goes public

To raise more capital, Stratasys went public in October 1994, selling 1.38 million shares of common stock at $5 per share, netting approximately $5.7 million, to expand the company’s engineering capabilities in order to add features and applications to its rapid prototyping products, as well as for marketing and sales.

2002

A whole new Dimension

Stratasys introduced Dimension, a small, easy to use 3D printer capable of being networked. Dimension used ABS plastic, making the models it produced functional and suitable for testing, and brought rapid prototyping technology to a new and much larger base of customers.

Rapid Techniques Ltd established

Rapid Techniques Ltd is formed in Derby to supply Z Corporation ZPrinter 3D printers to the UK market.

2009

A new direction

Rapid Techniques Ltd changes its name to Objet Printer Solutions (OPS), becoming the UK provider of Objet Ltd 3D printers, the developer of PolyJet technology and a leading manufacturer of 3D printers based in Rehovot, Israel.

Outstanding performance

OPS were awarded the European Partner of the Year award for outstanding performance by Objet Ltd.

Stratasys merges with Objet
Stratasys announced that it agreed to merge with Objet Ltd.

SYS Systems is formed

Following the Stratasys merger with Objet Ltd, OPS changes its name to SYS Systems to provide Stratasys and Objet 3D printing systems to the UK and Ireland market.

Platinum Partner

SYS Systems is awarded Platinum Partner status by Stratasys for the first time, acknowledging the excellent levels of service provided to customers and expanding the portfolio of products available.

Stratasys purchases MakerBot

Stratasys announced that it had purchased MakerBot Industries, an American desktop 3D printer manufacturer.

The EMEA’s best

SYS Systems were awarded the EMEA Partner of the Year award by Stratasys for a strong performance throughout the year.

Advanced Innovation Centre opens

To expand capabilities and meet growing customer expectations, SYS Systems moves into a purpose-built 4,000 sq ft Innovation Centre near Derby under the Carfulan Group umbrella.

Stratasys launches Origin One

After acquiring 3D printing start-up Origin Inc, Stratasys launches the Origin One, an updated version of Origin’s machine which runs on Programmable Photopolymerisation (P3) technology.

Stratasys steps into SAF

Stratasys acquires Xaar 3D, which provides 3D printers using Selective Absorption Fusion (SAF) technology, a type of powder bed fusion. The first product to be launched with this technology is the Stratasys H350.

SYS Systems Open Day

The SYS Systems Open Day at the Advanced Innovation Centre saw hundreds of people attend to witness Stratasys 3D printing technology first-hand and listen to live talks from key Stratasys personnel.

A landmark year saw Platinum Partner status awarded to SYS Systems for the 10th consecutive year, continuing the high standards of customer support.
